Highlighted Programs
Here is an overview of our programs and the impact they are having in our community.
The Community Prosperity Hub has significantly benefited local non-profits by increasing their access to data and analysis. This has enabled organizations to make data-driven decisions, enhancing their ability to understand and address community needs. By fostering greater collaboration among non-profits, the Non-Profit Data Collaboration project has facilitated a more coordinated approach to tackling complex community challenges.
The development of resources such as the "Guide to Data Privacy for Non-Profit Organizations in New Brunswick" has equipped non-profits with essential practices to handle data securely. As a result, organizations are now better equipped to demonstrate their impact, secure sustainable funding, and contribute to the overall well-being of the community. Many team members who worked on this project were new Canadians, providing them with valuable Canadian work experience in the technology sector, further enriching our community and workforce. In partnership with the City of Fredericton's Office of Community Inclusion, GFSI hosted the Diversity Equity and Inclusion symposium at the Maqiyahtimok Centre and was primarily for DEI professionals and members of organizations addressing the needs of marginalized communities, especially those trying to develop policies to expand inclusivity within their organizations, or on behalf of their clients.
This symposium provided a platform for organizations to present research, successes, challenges and lessons learned resulting from the implementation of DEI initiatives. This is not limited to large institutions dealing with DEI on multiple fronts, but also smaller organizations that are tackling small achievable initiatives. The main focus includes, but is not limited to projects that fall under UNESCO’s Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities. |

At the DEI Symposium, the presentation titled "Embracing Diversity: Creating a Welcoming Environment for Muslim Team Members" focused on practical strategies and insights to foster an inclusive workplace for Muslim employees.
The session highlighted the importance of understanding cultural and religious practices, such as prayer times and dietary restrictions, to accommodate Muslim team members effectively. It also emphasized the value of creating a respectful environment where all employees feel valued and included. By promoting awareness and sensitivity towards Muslim colleagues, the presentation aimed to enhance team cohesion and productivity, contributing to a more diverse and equitable workplace. |
